that when people say, 'Oh, I don't mind how things turn out. I'm
easy-going and relaxed.' This isn't always true. It may be better heard
as a statement of aspiration. They may be saying, 'I wish I could
develop a more laissez-faire attitude. Or it may be that they feel
socially awkward about expressing deep desire and determination, so they
try to cover it up.
Success can often involve refining the ability to distinguish between what someone is saying and what they really mean.
To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else
