....the Disney cartoon film, Pinocchio? In that Disney classic, Jiminy Cricket advises the hero 'always let your conscience be your guide'. But matters of conscience are not always as clear cut as we might wish them to be. The idea that there is some ultimate standard of impeccability might even be considered an expression of moral or cultural arrogance. What one person can easily live with, another may feel racked with guilt about.
The cricket is right. Your guide must be the voice of your own conscience, not someone else's!
