Not that you'd know it most of the time......

....but even people who are set in their ways aspire to an ability to find new ways! We cannot help but take an interest in far horizons. We want to know what's out there, waiting to be explored. We may just take an academic interest. We may feel that we have no real desire to go on an adventure but nonetheless, those potential adventures interest us.
Much the same can be said about the desire to experiment with fresh ideas. You're never obliged to embark on a path that may lead to major change but if you want to, what's stopping you!!

Anyone can love the ideal Church. The challenge is to love the REAL Church.

How much time have you spent....

....wondering if mice compete fiercely with other mice? Perhaps they argue about whose whiskers are longest, and whose noses twitch more rapidly. But to us, they are still just mice. We humans also spend a lot of time weighing ourselves up against others. We wonder what they've got that we haven't... and vice versa.

Yet the only people on this earth who are truly worth looking up to, are the one's who don't look up to (or down on) anyone.

We are never so empty as when we are full of self.

Mediocrity. Such a shame that so many....

....people seem easily able to accept it. They will settle for second best with a smile on their face. They will allow themselves to be talked into an endless number of bad ideas. Worse, they will convince themselves that they are ecstatically happy with all the above.

The ability to recognise imperfection is an asset only if it is accompanied by the willingness to rectify the problem.

We do not inherit the planet from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children

The past is a cancelled cheque. The future no more than a.....

....promissory note. The present is the only hard cash that we have, so we should spend it wisely. That's what the wise people say. Of course, we should make the most of the moment. It can't be good to dwell too long on dreams or memories. But that does not mean that if we perceive potential in a proposition or a plan, we cannot invest energy into it.

Faith is a kind of energy. It helps make tomorrow sweeter and it makes today more palatable too. Invest some.

History, despite its wrenching pain, cannot be unlived, but if faced with courage,
need not be lived again.   (Maya Angelou)

Think of a theatre....

....dark and empty in the middle of the night. Not a soul in the place, not a sound to be heard. What an eerie, desolate atmosphere. Now imagine the same place just a few hours later, full of light and laughter with a successful show in full swing.

We have to be really careful about the conclusions we draw from the situations we find ourselves facing. A little additional information can vastly alter our perspective.

Happiness cannot be travelled to, owned, earned, worn or consumed.  Happiness is the spiritual experience of living every minute with love, grace and gratitude.    (Denis Waitley)

Wherever there is love....

....there is hope. Wherever there is hope, there is possibility. That's why it is so important to feel love in your heart for someone or something, no matter what is tempting you to close off or to hide behind a psychological barrier. Love leads to inspiration. Inspiration leads to the discovery of opportunity. Never mind who loves you, or doesn't, or why. Never mind what you feel about what anyone else feels.

Just find some love from deep within yourself and let it touch you, soften you and uplift you.

Love is not blind.  It sees more, not less.  But because it sees more, it is willing to see less

Our deepest beliefs....

....and strongest opinions are rarely reached rapidly. We privately mull over the issues that seem most important to us and we question ourselves over time. But once we have arrived at a position, we frequently forget some of the steps that we have taken to get to them. We feel that we are where we are, and have not arrived there by accident. It is hard not to feel affronted by the suggestion that we have wound up in the wrong place.

If we have to encourage anyone to question their views, we really ought to do so gently.

The illiterate of the 21st century will not be those who cannot read and write, but those who
cannot learn, unlearn, and relearn.  (Toffler)

Think of all the other things....

....you could be doing, and all the other places you could be. Think about the other choices you might have made and the options that these, in turn, might have given rise to. Then, when you have really given yourself a king-size headache, stop thinking such thoughts. You are doing what you are doing for a reason.

The 'what-ifs' are all irrelevant. But if you continue to pay attention to them, they will sap vital energy and prevent you from making the most of 'what is.'

Be happy. Be who you want to be. If others don't like it, then let them be. Happiness is a choice.
Life isn't about pleasing everybody.
