Why are you reading this.....

....blog?  Think you've got the time to sit reading it? Well, you haven't.  You need to get a move on. Run a little faster. Try a little harder. Worry a little more. Relax a little less.

Or rather, don't. Don't succumb to the pressure. Don't let yourself be wound up into a frenzy. Don't panic, don't overreact, don't try to control any chaotic situation. And don't fall for that old trick of having no time left. It's possible that any  'deadline' you have is more flexible than you think. So, take all the time you want, and more. The slower you go, the more you'll get right.

Love is a canvas furnished by nature and embroidered by imagination      (Voltaire)

When we find ourselves in....

...an unfamiliar situation, we are often more concerned to discover the limitation than we are to find out about the possibilities. We want to know what's permitted and what's prohibited. We dread the idea of inadvertently breaking a law. (Well, some people are.)  Some of us love to be told what we may or may not do and some of us love to be the repository of this information in all its nitpicking, spontaneity-squashing glory.

If you get the chance - go beyond that and rewrite the rulebook.

If you think you can do a thing or think you can't do a thing, you're right.  (Henry Ford)

Do you remember the story of.......

....King Canute?   When I first heard it I thought - What a politician, er I mean fool.  I'm surprised he wasn't locked away for his own safety!
Anyway, we are now reliably informed, he never seriously intended to turn back the tide. He went down to the water's edge in order to make a deliberate gesture to his troops and his advisers. 'Look,' he was saying. 'I may be of royal birth, blessed with a divine right to rule, but there are some forces that even I cannot demand.' How very wise and how very brave.
If you acknowledge a weakness that you might prefer not to admit to, only  then you will start to develop a very real strength.

We are full of weakness and errors; let us mutually pardon each other our follies  (Voltaire)
